619 West 54th Street is a 326,861-square-foot mixed-use building located block-through West 54th and West 55th Streets with entrances on both streets, and situated between Eleventh Avenue and the West Side Highway. The building’s “L” shape allows for abundant access to light and air on three sides of the building and a 12-car surface parking lot. The property was originally built in 1930 as a film-editing house for Warner Brothers Pictures, and came to be known as “The Movie Lab.” Taconic acquired the Art Deco property in 2012, and began a comprehensive capital improvement plan including upgrades to the building’s façade, interior, and iconic crown as well as tenant amenities such as a bike storage room and private showers. Taconic signed a 42,000-square foot lease with the New York Stem Cell Research Center, a foundation for research laboratory and executive offices, in 2015, and is currently marketing remaining space to the emerging life science industry. In 2017, Taconic recapitalized the asset with an affiliate of Silverstein Properties.
