General Counsel and Executive Vice President
Andy is responsible for all legal matters, including those related to investments, transaction structure, joint ventures, land use, and regulatory compliance matters. Prior to joining Taconic in 2009, he was general counsel, executive vice president, and a member of the executive board at GFI Capital Resources Group, Inc. From 1996 to 2009, he held positions at Forest City Ratner Companies, first as associate general counsel where he handled virtually every aspect of Forest City’s complex transactional legal work and later, on the business side, as senior vice president of commercial and residential development. Andy represented Forest City in many public-private partnerships and complex mixed-use developments, closing over $1.5 billion in transactions, and was a senior development executive for the $5 billion Atlantic Yards Arena and Redevelopment Project. Prior to joining Forest City, he spent nine years in private legal practice, first at Baer Marks & Upham and later at Arnold & Porter, specializing in complex real estate transactions. In addition, he was an adjunct professor of law at Brooklyn Law School where he taught a course on real estate transactions. Andy graduated magna cum laude from Lafayette College with a Bachelor of Arts in political philosophy and earned his Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law in 1987.
